WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PLASMA MEMBRANE IN CELLS?
The plasma membrane, which is in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell. It can also called be called the cell membrane, it works as a barrier between the inner and outer surface of a cell. In animal cells, the plasma membrane is present in the outer most layer of the cell and in plant cell it is present just under the cell wall.
THE DEFINITION OF 'DIFFUSION'
A type of passive transport, therefore, it is a net movement of molecules in and out of the cell across the cell membrane along a concentration gradient.
THE DEFINITION OF 'OSMOSIS'
the passage of a solvent through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated to a more concentrated solution until both solutions are of the same concentration.
WHY ARE OSMOSIS AND DIFFUSION IMPORTANT FOR THE SURVIVAL OF CELLS?
Osmosis is used to maintain the water content in the cells. It is the important way for transport of the fluids in the living organisms. if cells didn't have this process of osmosis the cell will dehydrate and die.
